One of Austria’s leading international art fairs, Vienna Contemporary, hosted established Austrian and international galleries, exciting newcomers, and curated special exhibitions at the magnificent Kursalon Vienna from 7–10 September 2023. A total of 60 Art Galleries from Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Portugal, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and United States exhibited both well established artists, as well as emerging new talents.
Like no other art fair, Vienna Contemporary bridges the contemporary art worlds of Western and Eastern Europe and is therefore widely considered a place for surprising positions and discoveries. The curated special exhibition ZONE1 is an annual highlight dedicated to emerging young Austrian talent, while the special program STATEMENT: Political Homelessness and Contemporary Citizenship explores the concept of belonging in contemporary Europe at the 2023 edition.
With its unique selection of contemporary art, a dense supporting program, talks, and guided tours, Vienna Contemporary was the place to be for art enthusiasts in Vienna on this early September weekend.
After 10 years in different venues around the city, the 2024 Edition of Vienna Contemporary will we return to the original art fair location – Hall D of the Vienna Fair at the Prater – and have more space there, to accommodate the usual number of over 100 participating galleries.
