The XIV edition of the Florence Biennale, the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art and Design, will take place from 14 to 22 October 2023 at the Spadolini Pavilion and the Cavaniglia Pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence.

During the Florence Biennale, visitors can expect a diverse program featuring events, performances, workshops, talks, and special guests. More than 400 Artists and designers from around the world come together to explore the theme of this edition: “I AM YOU – Individual and Collective Identities in Contemporary Art and Design.”

Building on the success of the 2021 edition, the International Open Call Competition, organized in collaboration with Art Market Magazine and Lens Magazine, returned this year. The competition aimed to select images for the integrated communication of the XIV Florence Biennale.

All the exhibited works at the Biennale have the opportunity to compete for the prestigious “Lorenzo il Magnifico” International Award for Art in categories such as Ceramic Art, Drawing, Calligraphy and Printmaking, Installation Art, Jewellery Art, Mixed Media, New Media Art, Painting, Performance Art, Photography, Sculpture, Textile & Fiber Art, and Video Art. Additionally, the “Leonardo da Vinci” International Award for Design is awarded in categories including Architecture and Town Design, Industrial and Product Design, Fashion and Jewellery Design, Interior Design, Communication and Graphic Design, and Technology and Game Design. An International Jury evaluates the works during the exhibition, and the awards are presented at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, 22 October 2023.

It has been announced that the recipient of the prestigious “Lorenzo il Magnifico” Lifetime Achievement Award for the XIV Florence Biennale 2023 is the renowned American photographer and filmmaker, David LaChapelle. LaChapelle himself will attend the event to receive the award, deliver a speech, and showcase a series of works created between 2009 and 2023.
